Weight

That topic! Grrrr! I have wanted to journal about it for ages now! But I haven't been able to get myself committed enough.

I joined this awesome site http://www.sparkpeople.com/ to try and help get me motivated again. I have been super skinny my whole life. I had my first child and struggled just a little with my weight. I had my second child and I have never been the same since. In 2005-6 I lost 18 kilos. But in order for me to lose that weight I had to exercise 2-3 hours a day! Yes that's right! I did it and kept it off until I met Neil in May 2006. Then slowly I went down hill from there! (I got slack).

Anyway this site seems cool! First I had to write in my weight and height and my goal weight.

Then you select problems you are having like sleeping problems, high blood pressure, depression, anxiety and it can help with those areas to.

Next I had to select 1 goal from each of the areas of nutrition, fitness, and motivation.

For nutrition.. I am going to start drinking 8 glasses of water a day.
For fitness... I am going to start walking then jogging again.
For motivation... I am going to write in a journal on here!

Well that's a start anyway! I know I can do this again!

Old Creations...

I love looking at my layouts from the past and all the memories I have captured of my boys over the years!
I'm going to try and post a layout a day of my old layouts over the years!

My first one is called Picasso and it' a file folder filed with Owen's art from daycare. (from ages 18 months -5 years). There are about 10 pages in total. I scanned his art and printed them out in little pictures!

Two more..

This layout is about empathy and compassion and what it means. The journalling I did is about three pages long. I wrote my experiences, stories and got quotes and words of wisdom from inspirational people.

I want my boys scrapbook pages to have 'words of wisdom' and be a sort of 'life guide'. I think that's more important to me then anything. I mean words of wisdom from your mother, father, grandparents will be seen as a treasure when they get older and "we" have passed on. My boys are lucky. I didn't really know my grandpa's so I would love to have had something from them, like a letter, words of advice, to know their life story, etc.

This layout is about the day I finally got help for my post-natal depression.
On this day I rang up my mum and my husband . They came rushing home from work to my aid. Both of them spoke to me and told me to go to the doctor the next day so I did. (and thus I finally got the help I needed). My mum the angel she is feed the boys and gave them a spa bath. She didn't feel the spa up high enough so the water jets soaked both me, my mum and my husband (ex). (my boys screamed their heads off). This is the photo I have to remember the day by! ;) Atleast it's a funny photo to look back on!!!
I'm glad I created this. I want my boys to know how hard it is for us mothers sometimes. Esp, their own mother. Maybe they will grow up to be more compassionate men, husbands and fathers.

Bubbles

I did this layout months ago! Thought I'd share it, the story behind it's cute! When Owen was two he would tap on my breasts and say "bubbles"! The little bugger would go to a shopping mall and point out ladies with large breasts and say "big bubbles". Omg shock horror! One day he picked up a pair of my bra's and said "look I have bubbles to". Cute! I ran for the camera and got this pic!
The monkey pulls up to the journalling. The background was created with coloured art pastels and script patterened paper. Easy and fun!

Wonderland

Thought I would do a blog post now while Neil is happy soaking in the bath ;) Yesterday was a hard day but today was a much better day. I felt less anxious and less stressed. I didn't even feel tired today even though I stayed up watching Cheaters, Trisha, The Peoples Court and Judge Judy until 3:30am on the lounge. I was also playing with my Elsie Kit I got in the mail a few days ago! I'm making a mini book called Wonderland it's going to be seperated into 7 sections. For seven different times in my life. When I was little girl, when I was a teenager, when I met Andrew, when became a mother, when I became divorced, when I met Neil and right now. It's going to reflect both the good times and bad. The wonderland that is my life.

Thanks for the call today Deb I hope to see you tommorrow! Finally I can give you your present!!!!!! Hopefully I can get more of this mini album done. I haven't scrapped much latelty.

Tommorrow my baby has to work his 12 hour shift so tonight (right now when I get off this computer) we are going to Cafe Nova at Gawler for dinner.

The Falling Man 9-11

Yesterday was September 11th. Foxtel was running lots of documentaries on 9-11. I'd heard it all before. I was unwell but it made me feel 100 times worse. (If that's possible). But I couldn't stop watching. I then came across a documentary called 'The Falling Man'. The title should have stopped me in my tracks. But I still had to watch. The whole documentary was bassed on 1 photo of a man jumping to his death. I felt so sad for him.

I found this on the internet:

The picture was published around the world, causing widespread revulsion, as if merely looking at them was to intrude upon a moment of private agony. After September 12, the picture was rarely shown again, but Tom Junod couldn’t get the image out of his head and spent years trying to discover the identity of the Falling Man.
It was executive chef Michael Lomonaco who finally solved the mystery. "His co-worker Jonathan Briley fitted the body type, the skin colour, and it left the door open for a possibility that it was him".
Jonathan Briley worked at Windows on the World. Some of his coworkers, when they saw Richard Drew’s photographs, thought he might be the Falling Man. He was a light-skinned black man. He was over six five. He was forty-three. He had a mustache and a goatee and close-cropped hair. He had a wife named Hillary.
Jonathan Briley’s father is a preacher, a man who has devoted his whole life to serving the Lord. After September 11, he gathered his family together to ask God to tell him where his son was. No: He demanded it. He used these words: "Lord, I demand to know where my son is." For three hours straight, he prayed in his deep voice, until he spent the grace he had accumulated over a lifetime in the insistence of his appeal.
The next day, the FBI called. They’d found his son’s body. It was, miraculously, intact.
The preacher’s youngest son, Timothy, went to identify his brother. He recognized him by his shoes: He was wearing black high-tops. Timothy removed one of them and took it home and put it in his garage, as a kind of memorial.
Timothy knew all about the Falling Man. He is a cop in Mount Vernon, New York, and in the week after his brother died, someone had left a September 12 newspaper open in the locker room. He saw the photograph of the Falling Man and, in anger, he refused to look at it again. But he couldn’t throw it away. Instead, he stuffed it in the bottom of his locker, where—like the black shoe in his garage—it became permanent.
Jonathan’s sister Gwendolyn knew about the Falling Man, too. She saw the picture the day it was published. She knew that Jonathan had asthma, and in the smoke and the heat would have done anything just to breathe. . . .
The both of them, Timothy and Gwendolyn, knew what Jonathan wore to work on most days. He wore a white shirt and black pants, along with the high-top black shoes. Timothy also knew what Jonathan sometimes wore under his shirt: an orange T-shirt. Jonathan wore that orange T-shirt everywhere. He wore that shirt all the time. He wore it so often that Timothy used to make fun of him: When are you gonna get rid of that orange T-shirt, Slim?
But when Timothy identified his brother’s body, none of his clothes were recognizable except the black shoes. And when Jonathan went to work on the morning of September 11, 2001, he’d left early and kissed his wife goodbye while she was still sleeping. She never saw the clothes he was wearing. After she learned that he was dead, she packed his clothes away and never inventoried what specific articles of clothing might be missing.
Is Jonathan Briley the Falling Man?
Yes, Jonathan Briley might be the Falling Man. But the only certainty we have is the certainty we had at the start: At fifteen seconds after 9:41 a.m., on September 11, 2001, a photographer named Richard Drew took a picture of a man falling through the sky—falling through time as well as through space. The picture went all around the world, and then disappeared, as if we willed it away. One of the most famous photographs in human history became an unmarked grave, and the man buried inside its frame—the Falling Man—became the Unknown Soldier in a war whose end we have not yet seen. Richard Drew’s photograph is all we know of him, and yet all we know of him becomes a measure of what we know of ourselves. The picture is his cenotaph, and like the monuments dedicated to the memory of unknown soldiers everywhere.
From a family member: "Jonathan was a person who just loved life and it was contagious so that when we were around him, you couldn’t help smiling and laughing."

Nobody will ever know for sure if Jonathan was the Falling Man, although the evidence makes it highly likely.

I love this: "It’s not about trying to find out who he is, but what his death says to all of us." And what it says is … never again.

"God caught you in his hands and lifted you up to heaven".

Tiny Star

As you can all tell from my blog > I love etsy so much! I have always been a big fan of handmade stuff as long as I can remember. I really not a shopping mall person kinda girl! I just find that the shops decor items are boring and common and really not me at all. I want my home's decor to reflect the people in it. Every single item displayed in my house has a special meaning why I brought it in some way or another and I love that! It's about the meaning and not about the money!

One shop that I love on etsy is My Tiny Star! (http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5759993). I brought this beautiful little deer about a month ago to sit on my bed. When I first saw it reminded my of one of the deers my uncle gave me when I was a little girl. (He died in 1995 when I was just 17). He had no children and was like a father figure to me.

After I saw the deer I noticed this awesome boy doll, it reminded me of Neil (he has black hair and green eyes) so I brought it to go on his side of the bed. His name is Jack.

I contacted the lady and asked her if she could make me a girlfriend for Jack. She made this awesome doll called Lucy! She can make lots of things! She asked me what colour hair, eyes, clothes etc, I wanted. I told her just to surprise me and she come up with this beautiful creation!

Here they are together. Soon these little dolls home will be on my bed! Jack on Neils side and Lucy on my side! The doll is made of cloth. The hair is faux fur and the clothes are removeable and their faces are hand-painted!
